🐾 Ethical, Registered Breeders Are NOT the Cause of Cat Overpopulation 🐾
There’s a common misconception that all breeders contribute to the cat overpopulation crisis — and that simply isn’t true.
TICA-registered, pedigreed, and fully health-tested breeders are not the problem. Here’s why:
✔️ Every breeding is intentional
Ethical breeders plan litters carefully, breed infrequently, and only when there is a purpose — health, temperament, and preservation of the breed standard.
✔️ No accidental litters
Our cats are altered when not part of a breeding program, housed responsibly, and never allowed to roam or reproduce unintentionally.
✔️ Lifetime responsibility
Ethical breeders take responsibility for every kitten produced. Contracts require kittens be returned to us if an owner can no longer keep them — meaning our cats do not end up in shelters.
✔️ Health & genetic testing matters
We invest heavily in genetic screening, cardiac scans, and veterinary care to ensure we are producing healthy cats, not contributing to suffering or abandonment.
✔️ Shelter overpopulation comes from unregulated breeding
The real contributors are:
• Unaltered pets
• Backyard breeders
• Accidental litters
• Lack of spay/neuter access and education
Not ethical, registered breeders who follow strict standards and accountability.
✨ Ethical breeding and rescue can — and should — coexist.
We support spay/neuter initiatives, responsible ownership, and reducing shelter intakes while also preserving healthy, predictable, well-bred cats for families who choose that path.
